Learn about our latest success story + an upcoming retreat focused on revision
Hello friends! We’re at the hottest part of summer right now, but we’re hoping you’ve gotten some great word down in your WIP in between ice cream breaks!
Speaking of ice cream, Beth recently posed her Star Wars books with an ice cream maker because old fashioned ice cream makers look exactly like camtonos!
Don’t forget: Summer may be off-schedule and a busy time for many people, but signing up for Word Lab will give you structured office hours with accountability so that you’re focused and can get your creative writing done! Schedule your writing time with us and join our awesome community!
The Theme of the Month: Revisions!
We recently announced that we’re hosting a workshop retreat in November specifically focused on revising your manuscript. If you’ve got a manuscript done and you’d like to get some professional feedback on your next steps, set yourself up for revision success, and get ready for querying (or self publishing), join us for this five-day serene workshop in Texas! You’ll get one-on-one time with both Beth and Cristin focused specifically on your book, an online workshop to prep you before you arrive, and then five days to focus on your work with a blend of workshopping, writing time, and all the writerly snacks you can want.
Space is limited, and we’ve already booked half the rooms for this master class in revising retreat. If you’d like to join us, sign up now!
New Instagram Focus Features!
We’re also starting to focus our Instagram feed on monthly themes, and August’s theme will be revision! Join us now so you’ll be ready to see our new themed posts—we’ll be doing a live interview-style program as well as regular posts with tips, behind the scenes, and more!
Ramping up the Middle of Your Book
And while we’re on the subject of revisions, this month’s video workshop is all about the middle of your book. Whether you’re writing a first draft or revising a completed manuscript, the middle is often considered the trickiest part of the process. This short, focused video lesson is all about how to make sure the middle of your book works for readers.
As a reminder, you can either view this workshop a la carte on Wordsmith Workshops, or subscribe to Beth’s Patreon, where you’ll get access to all the workshops (as well as text posts, critiques, books, and more).
Congratulations, Meredith!
Please join us in celebrating our latest Wordsmith Workshop success story! Meredith Adamo’s debut novel, Not Like Other Girls, recently sold to Bloomsbury at auction. We loved reading a sample of this novel in its early stages, and are so excited to see how far this amazing book will go. Congrats, Meredith!
