You may notice that things look a little different for this email—we’ve switched from MailChimp to SubStack for our provider. We’ve been doing tons of work this winter—in addition to this new look for the newsletter, you can expect to see a new website design soon, and we’re hard at work developing fantastic new online programs for writers of all stages that we’re so excited to share! You definitely don’t want to miss our upcoming spring releases…
Connecting Fandom to Writing
Up first this month is the online, live seminar with author Preeti Chhibber! February 22, at 8pm ET, we’ll be hosting Preeti as she discusses how to craft stories by analyzing your favorite fandoms. Preeti has worked with Star Wars and Marvel before (she’s the expert on Spiderman!), and she’s published countless articles, podcasts, and more showcasing the elements that work best in storytelling. Whether you’re a fan fic writer, a novelist, or anywhere in between, this is the workshop that will show you how to pull in readers and keep them on the edge of their seats!
AND!!! Go to Preeti’s Twitter for a chance to win a FREE seat at this seminar. If you can’t join us live, you can always use the coupon to access the seminar at your own convenience later.
Celebrate the Latest Book Release from the Wordsmith Family!
We also want to do a special shout-out to Wordsmith alum Ashley Schumacher for her upcoming debut novel, Amelia Unabridged! Ashley is a brilliant author, and we’re so lucky to have gotten to work with her on her writing. This debut novel is equal parts heart warming and funny—much like Ashely herself. It’s the perfect book for any book lover in your life—and if you have a book-best-friend, this is the book to give them.
Socials
Over on Instagram, we’ve been experimenting with new designs, grids, videos, and more! Even casual users of the social media platform can check out our large patterns on the home grid to instantly see what we’re doing each month. And speaking of Instagram, make sure you’re following Beth…she’s preparing the first of the new spring programs, and you can get a very brief sneak peek of it here….
Word Bet
Have you tried out Word Bet yet? This program happens near the beginning of each month. For just a $10 fee, you get a two-hour writing session that’s structured exactly like our best-selling and popular Word Lab program—but at the end of the session, we’ll select one winner to get a free month’s worth of Word Lab!
Angela, one of the winners for our first ever Word Bet, had this to say about her January experience:
I hadn’t written anything for my novel, even opened the file to reorganize or edit or anything, since late March/early April 2020 until Word Bet on January 2nd and I’ve written over 10,000 words this month alone!!
We’ve been saying for months now just how effective Word Lab is—there’s something about the investment in your own writing time that makes the experience really work. Our participants keep coming back for a reason—they get more words down and are far more productive. (Beth wrote four complete novel manuscripts last year through Word Lab!)
Thank you!
As always, thank you all for joining us in this experience. Whether you always come to our programs (we <3 you!) or whether you lurk in our newsletter and on our socials, we appreciate the community you’re helping to build of writers supporting writers.
